The search for the Paddy Power
Irish Karaoke Champions 2006
is now over ....
After thousands of heats that took part in bars throughout the country and a nationwide radio search on the Gerry Ryan Show, 2FM, the Irish champions are Michelle Lynch from Dublin and Martin Lawerence from Sligo.
The Paddy Power All ireland Karaoke final took part at the Red Cow Morans Hotel on August 6th to a packed audience from the whole of the country.
Michele Lynch, a 23 year old dance instructor and part time actress, who represented Dublin sang Barbara Streisands “Woman In Love” and won the hearts of everyone with captivating vocals and a stunning performance.
Martin Lawerence, a 22 year old construction worker, who represented Sligo gave the audience a classy rendition of Blues “I Breathe Easy” and had the audience on their feet.
They will both now go on to represent Ireland at the Karaoke World Champions 2006 on board the luxury Cruise Liner "Galaxy" which will sail from Helsinki to Estonia on September 8th with over 32 countries taking part in this global event.
Ireland has done really well in this event in 2004 we came runner up and last year Rachel Browne won Ireland the World title and Danny Cummins came runner up in the male category.
Paddy Power has sponsored this event for the past two years and to add to the fun of the competition singers had the opportunity to place a bet on themselves. |

OFFICAL LAUNCH OF THE PADDY POWER IRISH KARAOKE CHAMPIONSIPS 2006

On Friday, 3rd March, 2006, the official launch of our 2006 competition took place in O'Flaherty's Bar, Parnell Place, Cork, LIVE on 2FM's Gerry Ryan Show.
We invited Gerry Ryan Show listeners to send in a recording of them singing along to a backing track of a classic song of their choice.
Live on Gerry's show, one lucky male and female were selected by a panel of judges, to represent the Gerry Ryan show in the All Ireland Grand Final in August, 2006.
